I remember him from the front page of the Hartford Currant speaking about removing a child from the home of some friends of mine. Blumenthal did not know the case, but that did not stop him from talking. I wanted my friends to sue Blumenthal, but they didn’t.
He is not malicious, he is just misguided. I remember his comments about being in Vietnam, but he was never in Vietnam. He is a big mouth, not a liar, just talking too fast and not thinking. I asked for his help once when the Town of Torrington threatened to close my shop for not paying someone else’s property tax bill.
I should post all that stuff as well. By law, according to Torrington, I had to pay property tax and interest for a bill that was mine, but never billed to me, and when I asked about tax bills I was not told about the misdirected bill. When they found it, I owed interest, “by law”. Blumenthal actually called me about it, but I wasn’t in. Later his office decided not to help, and I dropped it since it was under $100.
At least Blumenthal stands up for his stupid support for the SOPA and the PIPA.

But Blumenthal is a lost cause to such an issue because he is so invested in legislating everything about our American lives. There is nothing he won’t legislate, apparently, and he knows that is his job. The more he writes laws and votes and argues the more he supports his industry.
I don’t think he will ever understand the harm he does supporting and legislating social issues, like the SOPA, environmental issues, our bedrooms and our homes, how we spend our money, work and vacation. In fact, no one does.
The American system we have borrows money to encourage us all to invest in the industries which spend the most money to elect our Congress. Our children will pay the bill with their money and the as yet unknown consequences from our tacit support of Congress.
